My Little Friends

Please say hello to my little friends

Fresh from the garden (and a couple from mom's garden not  pictured here), my little friends are packed up and ready for a World Tour.  We traveled together from home to New York in a stretched limo (with no air conditioning).

All buckled up and ready to fly, we flew from JFK to Dover and onward to Hahn, Germany.   With us today are Jalapenos, Cayennes, Super-Cayennes, Hot Portugals, Hot Cherries, and a Longhhorn (far right).  Enroute, they stayed in the chiller in the galley and remained fresh.  They also enjoyed the minibar fridge in Morbach, Germany for a few days.

Not all of us will reach our final destination, but all will serve a good purpose along the way.  After Hahn, we flew to Isla do Sal, Cabo Verde with the intent of making better a Wiener-Schnitzel but unfortunately the Schnitzels didn't get loaded for the flight.   Cabo Verde had far too many bugs in the hotel room, so my little friends had to stay put away and didn't  again see the light of day until reaching Amsterdam (after passing through Lisbon on the long journey from Isla do Sal) where they looked out the window for a short time and then spend the night in the minibar.

But the Ocean was indeed only a few steps away.

Enroute to Dubai we stayed in the chiller in the Galley with the threat of Dragon Mouth to any crewmember who bothered my little friends.  They remained  undisturbed.

In Dubai, we presented ourselves to breakfast amongst all the wonderful items on the buffet and got to meet Assistant Chef Iragra who promptly cooked our Longhorn.  We met several other crewmembers.   My favorite chef, Chef Santos, was not here in the picture as it was his day off.  But on the following day, he too cooked us up some specials (not pictured).

Pictured here, The Longhorn Omelet and grilled Haloumi Cheese.

After Dubai we made stops in Sharjah (UAE), Lagos (Nigeria), Ciudad del Este (Paraguay), Foz do Iguazu, (Brasil), and Sao Paulo, (Brasil).

Many limos, taxis, and even a ride on an Azul Embraer E190 made for a well rounded journey.

We made friends with some fruits in Paraguay.

And we had a good night's sleep in Sao Paulo, all rested up for the big Churrasco (cook-out) on the 7th of September, in celebration of the day when Brasil declared independence from Portugal.

At the home of one of my best friends, Elio, (we have known each other since third grade) we celebrate Family, Friendship, and Freedom.  Elio cooks a traditional Churrasco with all the cuts of meat.  His wife Salete has prepared a complete buffet including Farofa and Mandioca, and his daughter Fernanda has prepared a delicious Molho de Vinagrette.   We are joined by Elio's sister and brother-in-law.  And of course my little friends have joined us on their final stop after a four-continents journey.

Introductions:  Peppers meet Guarana... Guarana meet Peppers!!

Tchau Peppers!!  We had a good voyage...but all good things must come to an end.   YUM, YUM, YUM!!

Replete with Brasilian hospitality, Fernanda has recalled that I love a Picole de Coco and has presented the table with a bowl full of coconut popsicles!!!

Obrigado Fernanda!!

And of course a Bolo (cake) to complete the meal.

To finish off a perfect day,  Fernanda serenades us with songs in Portuguese and in English.  Obrigado Fernanda!!
